The Betty is a squat, globe-shaped pendant built from thick, stacked horizontal ridges that wrap around the body like rings of clay on a potter's wheel. The form is wide and low, with a gentle curve that swells at the middle and tapers toward a compact top and a smooth, contrasting band at the base. That bottom band — lighter, cleaner, unridged — acts like a frame, giving the textured body above it something to land on and drawing the eye down toward the warm pool of light beneath.

The ridged surface catches light differently at every level. Each raised band creates its own thin line of shadow, so the entire shade reads as a gradient of warm and warmer. The honeycomb mesh is visible between the ridges, and when lit, the lattice glows through every gap — turning the Betty into something that looks almost woven, like a basket made of light. From below, the wide opening and smooth inner rim frame the bulb cleanly, keeping the glow soft and directed downward.

Pair it with a warm white bulb and the Betty turns golden and honeyed — the kind of light that makes a bedroom basically tuck itself in. Switch to a colour-changing smart bulb and the ridged texture multiplies the effect. Purple light settles differently in each groove, creating bands of violet and shadow. Amber makes the whole thing look carved from warm stone. The layered surface means no colour reads flat — every hue gets depth.
